I am a U.S. historian who previously taught at universities in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Texas. I've written books about ; ; and southern feminism. My current book project examines race, gender, music, and resistance to Jim Crow, using the 1950 Ku Klux Klan attack on in South Carolina in 1950 as a case study.
