Fairtrade Coffee Morning I 10am – 1pm 

Join us at One Elmwood for a relaxed Fairtrade Coffee Morning and learn how to make your commute greener and cheaper, with Liftshare. Drop in anytime for a coffee, a chat and sustainability tips!

Wednesday 15 April: Freedom Cycles Takeover & Smoothie Bike!  

Join us outside the SU for a day of all things cycling, sustainability and fun.  

Freedom Cycles Display and Slow Bike Race I 10.30am – 2pm  

Test your skills in the Slow Bike Race, check out the latest cycling gear and learn more about student bike hire – it’s only £30 for the final semester PLUS a FREE Summer bonus when you sign up for the Active Travel Challenge.  

Smoothie Bike Launch I From 11am (while supplies last) 

Head to the One Elmwood Main Foyer and power your own smoothie! Pedal your way to the most satisfying sustainable drink on campus.

Thursday 16 April: Bangor Day Trip I 10am – 3pm  

Hop on the train with us for a fun, low-carbon day out in Bangor – perfect for exploring the coast, getting active and learning more about the Sustainable Development Goals.  

What’s happening?   

  • Train and walk travel - a great chance to showcase sustainable travel in action.  
  • Active Travel Challenge – sign up on Strava and get a demo during the trip.  
  • Free Resource Bag – pick up some sustainable goodies for the day.  
  • Skippingstone visit – throw a stone, make a wish or just enjoy the views.  
  • Sea dip (optional) – are you brave enough to take the plunge?  
  • Greggs snack stop – fuel up before the journey home.  

Then head back on the train whenever suits you!  

 

Friday 17 April: Beryl Bike Bonanza I 11am – 2pm   

Celebrate the end of the week with all things Beryl Bikes!  

What’s on? 

  • FREE 100-minute Beryl Bike Bundles – grab yours on the day! 
  • Once you’re used your free minutes, enjoy a 25% discount through the Beryl app.  
  • Active Travel Sign-up desk – Queen’s staff will be on hand to help you register and answer questions.  

 

Monday 20 April I Community Bike Ride I 12.30pm – 2:00pm  

Join us for a relaxed group cycle through Botanic Gardens, along the Stranmillis Embankment cycle lane, and through Ormeau Park.  

Bring your own bike or make the most of your FREE 100-minute Beryl Bike bundle and ride on one on the day!

Wednesday 22 April I Walking Challenge & Earth Day Event  

Join us after the Earth Day event in The Canada Room (9:00am – 1:00pm) for a campus Walking Challenge. 

A great way to get your steps in, enjoy the fresh air and boost your Active Travel Challenge progress.  

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS – Active Travel Challenge 

  • By signing up for the Active Travel Challenge, students can receive a free 100-minute Beryl Bike bundle (while supplies last).  
  • If bundles run out on the day, check back at the next event – more prizes may become available.  
  • One bundle per student only.  
  • Free minutes must be used during the Active Travel Challenge fortnight – Monday 20 April 6:00AM – Sunday 26 April 9:00PM.  
  • Only commute journeys to and from Queen’s University count towards the leaderboard.

Queen’s University Belfast is delighted to announce the return of the Arts and Sustainability Festival,?Reach’26.

This seven day programme brings together artists, researchers, students, and the wider public to explore how creativity can illuminate the urgent challenges of our changing planet. 

Taking place across the University campus, the festival highlights the powerful connection between artistic practice and sustainability. Through film, image, music, talks, panels, creative writing, design, and visual art,?Reach’26?offers multiple ways to engage with themes such as the climate emergency, biodiversity loss, and environmental resilience.

  • Join us for a fun, hands-on lunchtime upcycling workshop that brings sustainable fashion to life. From Waste to Wardrobe invites Queen’s staff, students and the public to explore creativity, circular design and simple techniques for giving old textiles a fresh purpose.  

 

  • The Repair Project: Mending for a Sustainable Future

  • As part of the Reach’26 Arts and sustainability Festival, we’re thrilled to welcome ‘The Repair Project’, a unique creative collaboration with the Belfast School of Art. Come be part of something meaningful, mindful and beautifully collaborative. Together, we’ll be building a large-scale piece of artwork that celebrates the craft of repairing, mending and extending the life of the things we love.
