I am broadly interested in auditory perception applied to sounds that are as complex as those we encounter on a daily basis, whether speech, music or environmental sounds. I have particular interests in the recognition of sounds, the perception of stationary noise and the challenges of mitigating hearing losses in complex soundscapes. I am currently work on perceptually motivated signal-processing relating to these psychoacoustical challenges.

Open to PhD applications in the field of 

  • The perception of mixing
  • Timbre perception with masking
  • Adapting TV soundtracks for listeners with hearing losses
  • The psychoacoustics of singing in tune
  • Edge-tone perception
  • Statistical techniques for psychoacoustical experiment designs, or perceptually motivated signal processing.
