How to Apply

Complete Your Application
  • 1. Complete your FAFSA

    Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at . When completing your FAFSA, you must list Âé¶¹Íø as your school. Our school code is G22736. Federal and state deadlines for completing the FAFSA can be found .

    When you submit your FAFSA you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) summarising your application. The University will receive a report a few days later with the results of your FAFSA application. This will determine your eligibility for federal loans. 

    The U.S federal loans administrator will contact you to confirm your programme details and provide a sample cost of attendance.

  • 2. Complete Entrance Counselling

    Entrance counselling must be completed for each year that you borrow federal loans at Âé¶¹Íø. The counselling will ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower.

    • Undergraduate students: Complete entrance counselling for Direct Subsidised Loans and Direct Unsubsidised Loans. 
    • Graduate students: Complete entrance counselling for Direct Unsubsidised Loans and Direct PLUS Loans.

    Postgraduate students and parents of dependent undergraduate students who have received an adverse credit check must complete PLUS credit Counselling.

  • 3. Sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN)

    A Master Promissory Note (MPN) must be signed for subsidised/unsubsidised loans and for PLUS loans. It is a legal document that explains the terms and conditions of your loan and in signing you promise to repay your loan and any interest and fees accrued. 

    • Undergraduate students: Sign a MPN for a subsidised/unsubsidised loan.
    • Graduate students: Sign a MPN for a subsidised/unsubsidised loan and a MPN for a PLUS loan. 
    • Parents of dependent students: Sign a MPN for a Parent PLUS loan.

  • 4. Complete the PLUS loan application (if PLUS loan is required)

    To apply for a PLUS loan, graduate or parents of dependent students must complete the PLUS loan application at . The application includes a credit check. 

    If you have been informed that you have an adverse credit history then you can either apply with an You will need to complete PLUS credit counselling before you continue with your application.

  • 5. Accept the financial aid available

    At the end of February students receive a financial aid offer, guidance on how to accept the financial aid available and information on loan disbursements and satisfactory academic progress. The cost of attendance (COA) used in the financial aid offer is based on estimated costs and can only be reviewed in exceptional circumstances.
