As part of its commitment to recruiting, developing and supporting early career researchers, Queen¡¯s University established the Fellowship Academy in January 2020. This initiative offers a comprehensive range of developmental opportunities to support these future research leaders and influencers with their professional, academic and personal development and progression, including a hosted annual event. This year¡¯s event is focused on the theme of ¡®Influencing and Impacting Policy¡¯.
Professor Graeme Reid, Professor of Science and Research Policy, University College London, will deliver a keynote address on Academic Research and Public Policy, with Professor Emma Flynn, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research & Enterprise hosting the event. Further contributors include Queen¡¯s academics, Professor Laura Lundy and Professor Maria Lohan, presenting on their own personal perspectives and experiences of applying their research to influence policy. The event concludes with a roundtable discussion on the importance of research in influencing policy and policy makers, chaired by Academy Fellow, Dr Clara Fischer.
